LI Shanmin

LI Shanmin, a native of Bazhong, Sichuan Province, was born in February 1963. He is Ph.D., professor of corporate finance and doctoral supervisor. He graduated from Southwest Agricultural University majoring in agricultural economics and management in 1984 and received his Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in agricultural economics and management at Nanjing Agricultural University in 1987 and 1990. He went to California State University Hayward as a visiting scholar in 2001 and studied at Harvard Business School in August 2007. After his Ph.D. in March 1990, he worked as a Lecturer in the School of Economics and Management at Southwest Agricultural University and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1992. In April 1993, he joined the Sun Yat-sen Business School at Sun Yat-sen University as Associate Professor, and was promoted to Professor in 1997 and doctoral supervisor in 2001. From July 1996 to January 2000, he served as Vice Dean of the Sun Yat-sen Business School and Executive Deputy Director of Research Center of the Pearl River Delta Economic Development and Management. He was appointed Director of Office of Finance and University Assets in April 2004, and Assistant President and Director of Office of Finance and University Assets of Sun Yat-sen University in September 2011. His major areas of research are corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and corporate governance. He was named "Excellent Young Teacher in Nanyue (Guangdong)" and "Advanced Accounting Worker" of Guangdong Province. He won "Baogang Education Fund" from the Ministry of Education, the Science and Technology Progress Award from the Ministry of Agriculture, the first prize of the Guangdong Philosophy and Social Sciences Achievements Award, and was supported by the "Program for New Century Excellent Talents" by the Ministry of Education.
