ZHU Xiping

ZHU Xiping, was born in June 1962. On receiving a doctoral degree in science from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1989, Zhu Xiping took up a position in the Department of Mathematics at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Currently, he is a standing member of the SYSU Committee of the CPC, Vice President of SYSU, and a professor and doctoral supervisor in the university. In 1998, he won the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars of China; in 1999, he was selected as the first and second-level candidate of the “100-1,000-10,000 Talents Project” of the Ministry of Personnel; and from September 2001 to September 2006, he was appointed as Chair Professor of the Chang Jiang Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education. He won the second prize of the Natural Science Award of CAS in 1991. He was the supervisor of a student who won the National Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Awards in 2002. He also received the International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians (ICCM) Morningside Silver Medal of Mathematics in December 2004. Since October 2009, he has served as Chair Professor of the Yat-sen Scholars Program of SYSU.
