WANG Biao
Prof. WANG Biao received his Ph.D. from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1988. Then he was a post-doctoral fellow in Tsinghua University, and French Institute of Petroleum (IFP). He became an associate professor of Harbin Institute of Technology in 1991, and was promoted to be a professor of HIT in 1993. In 2000, he was selected as a Cheung Kong Chair Professor of the Ministry of Education of China. In 2004, he joined School of Physics and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, and since 2005, he has served as the Dean of the School. Since the found of Sino-French Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology in 2009, he also served as the Chinese Dean of the institute. His research background is mainly on nano- and micro-mechanics of functional materials; development and fabrication of novel laser single crystals and related laser systems; theoretical modeling and simulation on advanced materials and structures, etc. In these areas, he has published over 200 refereed journal papers, such as in Nano Letters, ACS Nano, Phys Rev series, Appl Phys Lett, JMPS, etc. and two books, one of which is called "Micromechanics of Composite Materials" (1998), coauthored with Professor Shanyi Du, and the other one is "Mechanics of Advanced Functional Materials" by Springer-Verlag (2012). He has received dozen of academic awards, including ISI "Citation Classic Award" (2000), and The National Science Foundation Award for Excellent Young Investigators (1997). He also serve as the editorial board member in several international and national academic journals, such as, Acta Mechanica Sinica; International Journal of Computational Materials Science and Engineering;Composites Part B: Engineering; Applied Mathematics and Mechanics; Computational Mechanics.
