About the speaker:
Dr. Tianyong Hao is an Associate Professor and Yunshan Scholar at School of Information Science and Technology, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. He is the PI of the school-level scientific research innovation team, the person in charge of the Natural Language Processing Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at City University of Hong Kong in 2010. After that, he worked as a postdoctoral research scientist at Columbia University from 2012 to 2014. His research interests include Natural Language Processing, Question Answering, and Medical Informatics.

He has published more than 50 SCI/EI indexed papers on international journals. He received 4 granted patents including 1 US patent, 14 software copyrights, and 4 best paper awards from international conferences. He is the PI of several grants including National Science Foundation of China and the co-PI of one Hong Kong GRF fund.

Dr. Hao is an IEEE senior member and serves for ISO TC37 committee, SAC TC52 committee, CIPS Youth working committee, CIPS Biomedical Informatics committee, CCF Chinese Information Technology committee, and CCF YOCSEF (Guangzhou) academic committee. He also serves as a reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Industry Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Service Computing, ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology, as well as top-tier conferences such as AMIA.
