About the speaker:
Professor Cunyou Zhao is Professor and Associate Director of Department of Medical Genetics in Southern Medical University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2008. He then worked at the Division of Life Science in HKUST as a postdoctoral fellow. Professor Zhao was appointed as Research Assistant Professor at Applied Genomics Center in HKUST in 2009. He joined Southern Medical University in 2011 as a full professor. The research interests of Professor Zhao focus on Epigenetics including DNA methylation & hydroxymethylation and noncoding RNAs in human diseases, such as psychiatric disorders and beta-thalassemia.
