About the speaker:
Jingde Zhu, Ph.D (1985) in molecular pathology from Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, Glasgow, UK, worked as a senior scientist or PI in Shanghai Institute of Cell Biology, three academic institutions and one biotech firm in UK between 1985-2001. His research focuses on the epigenetic (-omic) perspectives of cancer biology and detection/guided therapy and has been funded by the European Union as well as from both local and central governments of China. He is the inventor for both approved and filed patents (six) in China and the US. The main themes of his current research are to develop and use 1, the novel oncolytic viruses to treat a wide range of cancer types, and 2, the DNA methylation based cancer diagnostics for either early detection or the guided chemotherapy of human cancer. In addition, he has been actively promoting the human epigenome initiatives in Asia and around the globe, as the member of AACR Epigenome Task Force Committee and founder of the Asian Epigenome Alliance.
