Training Base for Asian Games Volunteering Settled at SYSU

Guangzhou, October 21, 2009 (Guangzhou Daily): On the evening of Oct. 24, the open ceremony for demonstration base of task entrustment, recruitment and training for volunteers of the 16th Asian Games took place at SYSU, making it the first recruitment and training demonstration base for Asian Games volunteering. The ceremony also marked the official startup of the docking work of Asian Games Volunteering among higher institutes of Guangdong. The Asian Games volunteering , is reportedly in full swing with the number of applicants reaching 243,968.

Zhu Kongjun, vice secretary of party committee of SYSU, said university students take up over 60 percent of the total applicants for the Asia Games volunteering. and setting up volunteers training base in different higher institutes will help convey information more directly, effectively, and immediately and thus enhance the service of the Asian Games.
