On December 14, 2016, the 16th SYSU Clinical Research Salon was held in the Reception Room on Guangzhou North Campus of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). This month, the salon invited Dr. Cao Ye, the director of the Department of Clinical Research of SYSU Cancer Center as the speaker and Prof. Ling Li from the School of Public Health as a special guest. Hosted by Prof. Xu Li from the SYSU Cancer Center, who is also a former visiting scholar of the SYSU-JHU Collaboration Program, the salon attracted more than 60 doctors, teachers as well as medical students from the university and its affiliated hospitals.

Dr. Cao Ye has been working for the Department of Clinical Research of SYSU Cancer Center since her graduation from the former Zhongshan Medical University in 2000. She has accumulated rich clinical research experience in her professional career. Moreover, From February, 2012 to January, 2014, Dr. Cao studied clinical research management at the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center of Harvard University. At the salon, Dr. Cao used the timeline as a practical manual guide to discuss the key points and difficult parts when conducting clinical research. With her overall demonstration of the workflow of clinical research, students and junior researchers gained insights to clinical research on a macro level. In the follow-up discussion part, Prof. Ling Li not only gave comments but also responded to the audience’s questions.
