Accepting SYSU president Li Yanbao’s invitation, the famous artist Wu Yuxia gave the ninth lecture of the Life & Art Forum which captivated a full-house of 500 the night of March 29 in Xiongdelong Students’ Activity Center. Apart from playing more than 10 traditional Pipa melodies such as the Moonlit Spring River and Flowers, Wu also gave introduction to the melody appreciation and musical instrument Pipa. By sharing her experience of learning to play Pipa, she discovered to the students many life truths. Very often, storms of applause broke out from the audience.

Wu Yu Xia, Grade A instrumentalist of Pipa of National Traditional Orchestra of China, deputy director of the performing arts committee, the China Association of Musicians. She has won various prizes at different national Pipa contests and held recitals in Japan for 3 times. In recent years, Wu visited over ten countries and regions and held recitals at the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the UN General Assembly Hall.
