Five Million Yuan to Help Talented and Financially Needy Students, Auto Industry’s Largest Scholarship Fund Launched in SYSU


Themed on “Son of the Orient · Descendants of the Dragon”, Chery’s 21st Century Son of the Orient Scholarship Fund Dedication Ceremony and the launch press conference for this new car took place at the Swasey Hall of Sun Yat-sen University on Feb. 22. Nearly 300 people attended the ceremony, including officials from Chery, SYSU and SCUT (South China University of Technology), reporters, as well as SYSU faculty and students.

Chery Automobile Company based in Anhui Province, has recently launched the biggest scholarship fund ever in the history of the auto industry, which amounts to 5 million yuan and helps 651 students in 31 universities across China. SYSU and SCUT are two universities in South China to be covered in this program.

Chery’s 21st Century Son of the Orient Scholarship, up to 2100 RMB each, will be awarded annually to academically excellent students who are in financially difficult situation. During today’s ceremony, Chery also donated two cars to the two universities.

SYSU Vice Secretary Chen Weilin and SCUT Vice Secretary Chen Jianxin addressed the ceremony, acknowledging Chery’s generous support for the cultivating of talented students. Later on, a signing ceremony was held to mark the establishment of the scholarship.
