Big Hospital Establishing Community, Inside Which Illness Being Cured

—The Sixth Affiliated Hospital sets up the biggest community service centre in Guangzhou

On March 26th, the largest, ever the most distinctive community service centre in Guangzhou, Tianhe District Yuancun Street Community Service Centre, which was founded by the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of our university, held the opening ceremony. The vice mayor of Guangzhou, the leader of the Guangzhou health working group Wu Yimin, the chief of Guangzhou health bureau Huang Jionglie, secretary of the Party committee of the university Zheng DeTao, and many others attended the ceremony and gave speeches. Also attended were more than 120 participants from Guangzhou health administration and Yuancun street agency.

Get involved in the community, four independence
The Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (The Sixth Hospital of Guangzhou) is one of the comprehensive hospitals which initiated community service. Being an acquisition of Guangzhou Radio Factory clinic as far back as 2000, the Sixth Affiliated Hospital had set up the Huaying Community Health service Centre. In October 2004, when Tianhe district went all out to establish a national community service center, the Yuancun Street Community Health Service centre in Tianhe District had been set up within the hospital.

To carry out the spirit of 2007 Guangzhou Urban Community Health Work Conference and the 2008 Tianhe District Health Work Conference, to improve community health service, to solve the problem of difficulty and high cost of getting medical service, the Sixth Affiliated Hospital established the Yuancun Street Community Health Service Centre on a land of 3,200 sq.m., in accordance with the 4 independence requirement, "the separate legal entity, the independent location, the independent accounting, the independent management". The Six Affiliated Hospital detached community health service center form the hospital it originally attached to, a move considered to be a breakthrough in Guangzhou.

Facilitating medical consultation, optimizing medical treatment resource

The vice mayor Wu Yimin pointed out in his speech that striving to develop urban community health services is of great significance in terms of carrying out the outlook of scientific development, deepening the reform in urban health and medical community, structuring the new urban health service system, improving the standard of public health and the basic medical treatment, solving the problem of costly medical treatment and inconvenience involved, and promoting social equality and harmony.

SYSU Secretary Zheng Detao holds that the university should take the development of community health service as a carrier when deepening the study and implementation of the scientific outlook on development. According to Zheng, the community service center of the Sixth Affiliated Hospital have already set a fine opening now, but still, there is a gap, it takes time to meet the standard, government's requirement and the mass expectation. We ought to enhance our sense of responsibility, strive to set an example of "big hospital establishing a community service center, inside which minor illness is cured ", and makes great efforts to open up the new prospect of the scientific development of medical and health undertaking.
