SYSU Affilated Hospital’s Nursing Clinical skills contest on Intravenous Infusion

SYSU Affilated Hospital’s Nursing Clinical skills contest on Intravenous Infusion was held on the North Campus on April 9-10. 20 excellent clinical paraprofessionals from eight affiliated hospitals participated in the match. After an intensive competition and strict assessment, Huang Tianwen from NO.1 Affiliated Hospital won the first prize. Zhou Tianrong from Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital and Ye Fenglian from NO.5 Affiliated Hospital won the second prize. And the third prize went to MaXuexia from Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, ZhongMei from Affiliated Cancer Hospital and JiangYa from NO.3 Affiliated Hospital.

The contest is principled on “open, fair and merit based ”. It was divided into two parts: theoretical knowledge of nursing and clinical skills. The judges were experts on nursing from the affiliated hospitals, all with the professional title of associate professor or above. 20 participants took part in the theoretical test of intravenous infusion in the Nursing School on April 9 and the clinical skill competition at the clinical service center of the North Campus the next day where they gave intravenous injection to volunteers under the simulated scene . After the competition, the expert judges complimented on the contestants overall performance. They will be awarded by the organizer and exemplified for other nurses of the affiliated hospitals. According to sources, the university will recommend the top six winners of the contest to participate in the Guangdong Public Health Sector Female Employees’ Intravenous Infusion Skills Competition which is to be sponsored by the labor union of the Health Department of Guangdong Province and Guangdong Nursing Association.
