The award ceremony for model workers was held on April 30 in the provincial auditorium. Over 1000 people attended the event, including Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee Wang Yang, Governor of Guangdong Province Huang Huahua, representatives of the 2009 National "May 1" labor certificates holders and medalist in Guangdong Province. Professor Cheng Xiaoming, Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Sun Yat-sen University, Cheng Gang, deputy general manager of DaAn Gene Co., Ltd. of Sun Yat-sen University were awarded the title of “Guangdong Model Workers”.

According to sources, a total number of two hundred and fifty-nine people have been awarded the honorary title of “Guangdong Model Workers” this year, and 100 units the title of “Guangdong Advanced Units”.
