Professor
Lin Haoran was born in Wenchang County, Hainan Province
in November 1934. He was once director of the Department
of Biology in Sun Yat-sen University, member of
the council of International Society of Endocrinology,
member of the council of Asian Society of Aquatic
Products, director of the Research Institute of
Aquatic Economic Animals at Sun Yat-sen University,
director of the National Professional Laboratory
of Breeding, Nutrition and Disease Control. Professor
Lin is also a member of the Academic Committee of
Sun Yat-sen University, the Degree-granting Committee
of the university and chairman of the Sub-committee
of Biology, member of the council of the Asian and
Oceanic Society of Comparative Endocrinology, standing
member of the council of the Chinese Society of
Zoology, director of the council of the Society
of Endocrinology under the Chinese Society of Zoology,
and director of the council of the Guangdong Society
of Zoology. He was approved to be in the third batch
of supervisors of doctoral candidates by the Degree-granting
Committee of the State Council in 1986, and to be
academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
in November 1997.
Professor Lin graduated from the
Department of Biology in Sun Yat-sen University
in July 1954, majoring in zoology, and stayed on
to teach in the department. He was once teaching
assistant, lecturer, associate professor, and was
promoted to professor in 1986. He has always been
engaged in teaching for a long time, and has lectured
systematically on the following courses: Vertebrate
Zoology, Animal Ecology, Ichthyography, Biology
of Bred Ichthyography, Fish Breeding, Comparative
Physiology, Physiology of Fish, Breeding and Endocrinology
of Fish and others. He took part in compiling the
national unified textbook Animal Ecology, which
won second prize award for excellent textbooks by
the State Education Commission. Physiology of Fish,
compiled by Professor Lin, has been published by
the Guangdong Higher Education Press in 1998. Professor
Lin has taught dozens of Master, doctorate and post-doctorate
students ever since 1978.
