Lin Shang'an

 

Professor Lin Shang'an was born in Yongding County, Fujian Province in June 1924. He has been deputy director and director of the Department of Chemistry of Sun Yat-sen University, director of the Research Institute of Polymer, member of the University Council, member of the Academic Committee and Degree-granting Committee of the university, and also part-time professor of Xiamen University.

Professor Lin is also standing member of the council of Chinese Society of Chemistry and deputy director of the Sub-committee of Polymer Chemistry, director of the Guangdong Society of Chemistry, member of the Degree Committee of the State Council, the Committee of National Foundation of Natural Sciences, the Committee of Science Foundation of the Chinese Academic of Science, and the Evaluation Group of Chemistry of the National Committee of Science and Technology. He also serves as member of the Editing Committees of Journal of Chemistry in Higher Education and Journal of Polymer, deputy editor-in-chief of the polymer chemistry group of the Chinese Encyclopedia, member of the polymer chemistry group of the National Committee of Natural Science Terminology Audition, and leading scholar of the national key discipline of polymer chemistry and physics.

He was approved to be supervisor of doctoral candidates in polymer chemistry and physics by the Degree-granting Committee of the State Council in January 1984, and was elected member (now called academician) of the Chinese Academy of Science (Chemistry Branch)
