In the evening of April 17, a distinguished guest well-known in the information technology industry at home and abroad—Mr. Ding Lei, founder and chief engineer of the NetEase Company—stood at the rostrum in the International Conference Hall of the EMBA Building of the School of Management. Professor Li Xinchun, Vice Dean of the School of Management, presided over the forum. Also invited to the forum were some students of the EMBA Program—Mr. Liangping, CEO of the Xintai Science and Technology Co. Ltd., Mr. Chen Zhuoxin, president of the Guangzhou Jinpeng Group Co. Ltd., Mr. Cai Feng, former Deputy General Manager of the Sina Wireless Co. and General Manager of the Guangzhou Xunlong Science and Technology Co. Ltd., now Chairman of the Board of Guangzhou Ziyoutong Network Co. Ltd.. The guests had full discussion on “the history and outlook of the development of IT industry in China”. Over 500 people from the EMBA and MBA classes of the School of Management attended the forum.
Mr. Ding Lei graduated from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 1993 and founded NetEase in 1997. With keen insights of the market and hard work, he led the company in making important contributions to the development of the Internet in China. The NetEase Company started from a small private one with about a dozen employees to a well-known IT company with 750 employees and is listed in the Stock Market in the US. Mr. Ding Lei was listed on top of the richest people in China by “Forbes list” and “Hurun’s list” in 2003.
