Zeng Yixin

 

Zeng Yixin, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), male, was born in Lianyuan City, Hunan Province in October 1962. After graduation from Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences with a doctor degree in 1990, he studied abroad in Japan and American until 1997 when he returned to China and began to work in the Cancer Center of Sun Yat-sen University. He once served as the director of the Cancer Center as well as several national or provincial key laboratories, such as the Laboratory for Diagnosis and Treatment of Nasopharyngeal Cancel, the Laboratory for Cancer Genomics & Anti-cancer Drug Research and the South China Laboratory of Tumor Biology. He is also the vice president for the Chinese Anticancer Association and the International Association for Research on Epstein-Barr virus and Associated Diseases, the editor-in-chief of the Chinese Journal of Cancer, and a member of the board of editors of Science in China, Cell Cycle and Cancer Biology and Therapy. In November 2005, he was selected as the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

With his work mainly focusing on the episode mechanism of malignant tumor, he has made outstanding achievements in the research of genetic susceptibility of the nasopharyngeal cancer and the anti-cancer drug. His studies on the nasopharyngeal cancer has been regarded as a break-through in China¡¯s genome research for major and complex diseases in recent years and published in authoritative journals such as Nature Genetics and Caner Research, receiving recognition from the international medical circle. Up to now, Professor Zeng has published 133 papers, among which 57 are included in SCI-indexed journals and have been cited by SCI papers for 1032 times.

Since 1997 Doctor Zeng has won support from the Outstanding Young Scientist Foundation of China and nine national research projects such ¡°863¡± and ¡°973¡±. In recognition of his brilliant accomplishments in both research and teaching, he has been awarded many honorary titles, such as 100-1000-10000 Talent Project, Outstanding University Teacher of Ministry of Education, Outstanding Young and Middle age Expert of Ministry of Health and State Council¡¯s Special Allowance Expert.
