Professor Zhuang Shimei
was born in 1965. She graduated from the Department
of Clinical Medicine at the Shanghai University
of Medical Science in 1987, received her M. D.
in paediatric clinical medicine from the same
university in 1992, and was employed as a lecturer
at the School of Fundamental Medicine of the Shanghai
University of Medical Science until she went abroad
on her own in May, 1993.
She has been engaged in research
of tumor cells and molecular biology since she
left the country. She was a visiting scholar at
the Laboratory for Molecular Cancerous Changes
at the Department of Medicine and Biochemistry
of the Laiden University in the Netherlands, working
on the molecular mechanism that causes the cells
to wither by apoptin, from August 1993 to December
1994.
She is employed to work at the
Laboratory for Medical Molecular Genetics of the
Department of Cell Biology in the University of
Linxueping, Sweden, doing research on the cancerous
molecular mechanism from 1995 to the present.
Dr. Zhuang won a second M. D. in cell biology
and molecular genetics in 1999, and was invited
to be associate professor at the university to
continue her research on the molecular mechanism
causing cancers, while at the same time conducting
research on the medicine-proof mechanism of cancer
and the anti-cancer mechanism of natural active
elements.
