On May 25, the Student Dance Troupe and Bayan Band of Sun Yat-sen University put on an excellent performance for teachers and students. On that night, every single seat in K. K. Leung Hall was occupied, and in the expectancy of the audience, the report performance of 2012-2013 academic year took place as planned. Dancing and music were fused, creating a wonderful summer night.

The dancing performance was in two parts. The first part was “Class in Action”, showing daily dancing routine, basic combinations of folk dances. Costumes were simple but exuded the energy of youth. The second part included popular works of the Student Dance Troupe. Dancers dressed beautifully. With great choreography and sound fundamental practices, dancers performed The Lonely Bird, Love That Never Ends, Wind and Rain, and Spring Rain. The shows were professional.

Melodious Bayan, Sweet Music

The Bayan Band of SYSU, founded five months ago, made its debut. Nine performers used Bayan, a less familiar instrument, to play familiar tunes. The Band played Quiet Plain, La Valse D’Amelie, My Beloved Lute, Only One Step Left, Songkran, and Radetzky March. The Band hoped that their music would invoke fond memories and they wanted to pay tribute to the composers.
