Recently, the final contest of 2013 “Ten Proposals” collection on four campuses was held on Zhuhai campus. The activity was hosted by the Organization Department, Student Work Department and Graduate Work Department of SYSU Party Committee and SYSU Youth Association, and undertaken by the Student Union of SYSU. The theme of the activity was “drawing a blueprint for the campus and pursuing the development of SYSU — offering suggestions for the development and planning of SYSU”. President Xu Ningsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng, Assistant President Bao Jigang, persons in charge of relevant functional departments, and professor representatives attended the event.
The eleven teams that were qualified in the final contest stood out from 206 teams through evaluation by relevant functional departments, assessment by student panel, defense meeting on campus and online voting. Among them, ten teams were produced by the judges’ grading and one by online voting.

President Xu Ningsheng reviewed the implementation of previous “Ten Proposals” in his speech, saying that “Ten Proposals” was a brand activity for students to draw a blueprint for the development of SYSU. He thanked the students for their care and participation in the construction of the University, and hoped that the students would put forward more proposals to promote study, friendship, respect for teachers and self-discipline in order to realize the strategic goal of “building SYSU into a world-class university”.
Focusing on their research into the problem, the necessity of the proposal and feasibility analysis, the eleven teams made presentations to the judges and students present, covering various contents such as the development and planning of SYSU, international cooperation and exchange, infrastructure construction, reform of education and teaching, etc. The students showed their keen insights, good expectations for the future of the University, strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng fully affirmed the students’ attention to the development and construction of SYSU in the concluding speech, and encouraged them to make more proposals about study.
After a three-hour fierce competition, “On Solving the Problem of Slippery Floor Tiles in the Teaching Building on Zhuhai Campus”, the proposal made by Xiao Jingxuan, Zhou Xiang, Lai Xiaoli and Geng Hui, eventually won the Phoenix Cup in the final contest of 2013 “Ten Proposals” collection on four campuses.
