SYSU students won Silver Prize in the 2nd Home-City Travel Product Planning Contest held by TPO

From July 24 to July 26, Li Tongyi and Hou Guanyu, students from School of Tourism Management, Sun Yat-sen University, participated in the 2nd Home-City Travel Product Planning Contest held by Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO) in Busan, Korea as the representative of Guangzhou and won Silver Prize.
The Home-City Travel Product Planning Contest was one part of TOURISM UNIVERSIADE 2013, a program held by TPO. Teams from 33 cities in 10 countries participated in this program. Recommended by Guangzhou Tourism Administration, Li Tongyi and Hou Guanyu took part in the contest on behalf of Guangzhou. Lin Jiayi, a teacher of the School of Tourism Management, gave them valuable guidance.
The theme of the travel product designed by Li Tongyi and Hou Guanyu is tracing the Cantonese Kong Fu culture in Guangzhou. They selected the scenic spots related to Cantonese Kong Fu such as Dafo Temple and Eighteen Fu, and added relevant activities such as Kong Fu study and festival experience. According to the development of Cantonese Kong Fu, they designed a four-day-three-night trip. Besides, they used two-dimensional code in their marketing plan. During the presentation, they wore Kong Fu costumes and acted like tourists. Their interesting presentation impressed the judges and finally they were awarded Silver Prize.
