August 15 is the first registration day for the 2013 freshmen of Sun Yat-sen University. The blowing wind and downpour didn’t affect SYSU’s welcome work but witnessed an orderly scene of registration this morning instead.

Around 10:00 this morning was a rush hour for freshmen’s registration. The freshmen and their parents were queueing in front of the registration spots of the schools and departments. They said that they were not worried about being affected by Typhoon Utor. About half of the freshmen come from provinces other than Guangdong, and many of those who come from Northern China have never seen a typhoon before. Xiao Chen, a freshman from Hebei province joked that “compared with the high temperatures in many areas across the country, the cool weather brought by typhoon makes me feel good, and I am starting to like it.”

Zhong Yibiao, deputy director of the Student Affairs Office of SYSU, told the reporter that for the purpose of a smooth registration today, the University had done many preparations, including arranging the freshmen registration spots right under the dormitory buildings of different schools and departments, so that the freshmen could get their dormitory keys first and go upstairs right away.
