The South Campus Tour for FLS Freshmen

On September 15, the School of Foreign Languages (FLS) held an orientation for new students on South Campus. Three alumni were invited to deliver speeches and a meeting with teachers and students from Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany was arranged. The event was presided over by FLS Deputy Secretary Cao Xin and joined by Dean Chang Chenguang and Secretary Xu Dongli.
The event started with the speech session. Mr. Li Yuanlin (Japanese Major, Class of 1989), now serving as the head of Service Office for Foreign Establishments of Guangdong Province, gave an introduction about his work and encouraged the freshmen to participate in diplomatic affairs in the future.
Mr. Chen Liang (German Major, Class of 2001), the General Manager of Moscow and Greater China of Barkawi Management Consulting (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., shared his experience of learning and job hunting with the freshmen. In response to their questions about study and career, Mr Chen encouraged them to spend time on their interests.
Dr. Liang Sihua, (English Major, Class of 2006), gaining her PhD at University of Cambridge, talked about her academic pursuit, leisure and work, and vividly portrayed her college years at SYSU and life in Cambridge.

Meanwhile, the three alumni were appointed as Career Guidance Tutors of FLS. On behalf of FLS, Dean Chang Chenguang presented appointment letters to them.

At noon, the newcomers toured the beautiful South Campus guided by student volunteers. In the afternoon, a meeting with the delegation from Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany were specially arranged, allowing the freshmen to get a close understanding of FLS's international features and the study and life at a foreign university.

The South Campus Tour for FLS Freshmen has been held twice since 2012. The event is aimed to enhance communication between Zhuhai Campus and South Campus, increase the freshmen’s sense of belonging and cohesion, and extend alumni network to promote the students' development.
