Students communicating at Lingnan English Corner
Chen Zixuan, the president of LEC, introduced the organizational structure and development plan of LEC to the students in detail. Cameron Rotblat, the instructor of the English education project of The Yale-China Association, shared his experience with the audience. In the Q&A part, the hosts actively interacted with students through interesting questions in English. After a brief launching ceremony, students took part in their first oral English communication with foreign teachers.
Thanks to the English education project, which was reached by Lingnan College and The Yale-China Association in June this year, LEC is making efforts to establish a communication platform for SYSU students and outstanding graduates of Yale University with the aim to improve the students’ oral English proficiency. Although LEC was established recently, it was warmly welcomed by students. At present, over 400 students have applied for enrollment through e-mails and text messages.
It is reported that LEC will divide students into groups according to their interests and take various forms such as morning reading, scene play, classics reciting, etc. LEC will organize English learning activities on a regular basis to improve the students’ English proficiency.
