SYSU students won two awards in YICGG 2014

The Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance 2014 (YICGG 2014) jointly organized by the United Nations Development Program and Fudan University drew to a successful end on July 11 in Shanghai. Its theme this year is effective inter-cultural communication. Ling QIN and Qinyun ZHAO, two students from School of Asia-Pacific Studies at Sun Yat-sen University, won the awards of Most Innovative Team and Most Valuable Project.
YICGG is for all university students around the world to design proposals on global governance, which is honored as youth academic Olympic in the field of global governance by young students from various countries. After half-year open competition on a global scale, the committee of YICGG received proposals from around 20 countries. At last, 60 applicants from 15 countries are selected to attend the final competition in Shanghai. The tight schedule of final competition includes an opening ceremony, the presentation and exhibition phase, the Culture Night, the discussion phase named as world café, the city sightseeing and the closing ceremony.
During the 5-day competition in Shanghai, participants formed a variety of creative proposals on global governance, which can promote effective inter-cultural communication. The competition finally gave awards for two Most Innovative Teams (MIT), two Most Valuable Proposals (MVP), two Best Performance Players and two Most Creative Players. The Most Innovative Team and the Most Valuable Proposal, after being improved to final operable proposals, will be submitted to UN departments by the organizers. Besides, the winning teams will be given the opportunity to attend theme display at Expo Milano 2015.
