SYSU commended by China Youth Development Foundation

The award ceremony and wrap-up salon of the “Inspired Action — AIA Young Leadership Plan”, sponsored by China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF), was held in Shenzhen University on January 29, 2015. Mr. Yang Xiaoyu, Executive Vice Secretary General of CYDF, representatives of the CYL Shenzhen Municipal Committee and AIA China, and teachers and students from 15 universities attended the event. Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) won the Outstanding Implementation University Award, the “Expired Medicine for New” project of SYSU won the Healthy Living Award, and the “Sing Loud for Public Service” project of SYSU won the Marketing Pioneer Award.

Mr. Yang Xiaoyu said that the “Inspired Action — AIA Young Leadership Plan” was aimed to support college students to engage in community services, and improve their capacities to advocate and take action for public benefit. As a representative of the winning team, Miss Lin Shilin, a student from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of SYSU, presented a demo of the “Expired Medicine for New” project, which was acclaimed by the participants.

It is learned that seven projects of SYSU were selected into this program in 2014. The public service projects in the program covered several fields such as caring for the elderly and the disabled, environmental protection, community service, education, social investigation, health and medicine, and culture and arts.
