On April 15, 2015, a 50-member delegation led by Dr. Marie-Françoise Chevallier-Le Guyader, Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Science and Technology (IHEST), visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), and participated in an academic activity in Swasey Hall on South Campus.

Prof. Li Mengfeng, Vice President of SYSU, delivered a speech on SYSU’s achievements in education, research and faculty development as well as strategies for future development.

Prof. Wu Chuanbin, Deputy Dean of School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, gave a welcoming speech. Prof. Yang Depo from School of Pharmaceutical Sciences gave a report on the history and recent research of Chinese medicine and biological energy. Prof. Qiu Rongliang from School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Prof. Zhou Yongzhang from School of Earth Science and Geological Engineering, Prof. Wang Jin and Prof. Qiu Haiqiong from Department of Sociology, Prof. Thierry Meynard and Prof. Chen Lisheng from Department of Philosophy presented a report on their research fields respectively. The French guests showed great interest and joined the discussions.

Dr. Chevallier-Le Guyader thanked SYSU for organizing the academic activity. She said that the event enabled the delegates to know more about SYSU and higher education in China, promoted the exchanges between the two countries, and provided opportunities for establishing cooperative relations.

Before the academic event, the HEST delegation visited Guangdong Chinese Medicine Museum.
