The 3rd Japanese Studies Forum held on South Campus

Organized by the Guangzhou Center for “Face-to-face Exchanges” (CFFE) and the Department of Japanese in the School of Foreign Languages at Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), the 3rd Japanese Studies Forum was held on SYSU’s South Campus recently. The Forum, with the theme on Japanese society and war, was attended by Associate Professor Kinoshita Mitsuo from Nara University, Associate Professor Aratake Kenichiro from Tohoku University, Lecturer Aso Shinichi from Okinawa Prefectural University of Art, as well as teachers and students from Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Jinan University and South China Agricultural University.
Dr. Xu Dongli, Party Secretary of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and International Studies at SYSU, made an opening speech and wished the Forum a complete success. Dr. Zou Shuangshuang, Lecturer of the Department of Japanese at SYSU, introduced the aims and activities of CFFE and the objective and theme of the Forum.
The Forum was composed of speeches delivered in the morning and reports presented in the afternoon. Speakers in the morning were Associate Professor Kinoshita Mitsuo, Associate Professor Aratake Kenichiro, and Prof. Tong Jun from SYSU. The reports in the afternoon included two sessions: Session 1 was centered on social studies and Session 2 on literature studies. In Session 1, guided by Lecturer Aso Shinichi, Dr. Liang Zihua from Jianghan University, Dr. Xi Ling from Fudan University and Dr. Zhang Lan from Jinan University gave a report on their research respectively. Session 2 was chaired by Associate Professor Xie Chongning from SYSU, and the speakers included PhD candidate Song Bo, Dr. Guo Lifei and Dr. Zou Shuangshuang from SYSU.
The Forum provided an opportunity for participants to exchange their ideas. It also helped the students think about the cruelty of war and cherish peace.
