On the afternoon of October 8, 2015, Prof. Lawrence Young, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic Planning and Resources) of the University of Warwick, and Mr. Stephen Williams, Head of Partnerships & Assistant Director of the International Office at the University of Warwick, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on South Campus. Prof. Qian Chaonan, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC), Ms. Liao Shuang, International Director of SYSUCC, and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange at SYSU, were also present at the meeting.

Prof. Lawrence Young introduced the academic strengths of the University of Warwick in big data, biology, engineering and sustainable development. Prof. Wei Minghai introduced the new development strategy of SYSU. The two sides exchanged opinions on future cooperation.
Founded in 1961, the University of Warwick has the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Social Sciences. The University has been ranked 48th in the QS World University Rankings 2014/2015, and 6th in UK in Times and Sunday Times league table 2015.
