On May 15, the award ceremony of the 2011-2012 US Committee of 100 (C-100) Leadership Scholarship Program was held in Beijing. Including the United States ambassador to China, Mr. Gary F. Locke and C-100 Chairman, Mr. Wu Jianmin, over 200 guests of politics and business elites, scholars, and artists participated in this event and awarded the scholarship winners. Three second year graduates of SYSU, Cai Li’na (School of Law), He Jinpeng (School of Asia-Pacific Studies), and Liu Yan (School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering) won this honor.

Initiated by Mr. I.M. Pei, Mr.Yo-Yo Ma and other Chinese Americans in New York in 1990, C-100 plays an important role in promoting the culture communication between Asia and US and strengthening the understanding between Chinese people and American people. In 2005, C-100 set up the Leadership Scholarship Program in China, aiming at rewarding graduates who have good moral and academic performance, excellent leadership and social service spirit. So far, fifteen SYSU graduates have already been given the award.
