The theme of this year’s competition is “The Pearl River Delta: Situation and Challenge”. The judges were all the specialists from France. Eight Universities, including The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Sun Yat-sen University and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, selected eight outstanding students to participate in the final competition. Xie Jingyi was the sixth to enter on the stage. With the cartoon drawn by herself, she vividly showed that the government should make relevant policies on social equity, legislation, medical care, environment and education to attract the graduates in the Pearl River Delta to stay and work here. The judges unanimously praised the speech given by Xie Jingyi, regarding it as practical, creative and well organized. Mr. Bruno Bisson, Consul-General of French Consulate General in Guangzhou, also appreciated her speech.
When talking about the contest, Xie Jingyi said, “I am really grateful to my teachers for giving me the opportunity to take part in the contest on behalf of SYSU, especially to my French teacher for her great suggestions all the time, which made my dream of going to France come true!”
Students from the French Department of SYSU have won prizes in the contest for three consecutive years.
