Zhong Yuling, a severely sick girl at Sun Yat-sen University, touched the hearts of Guangzhou citizens. Guangzhou Book Market organized a charity sale yesterday. Before then, Zhong Yuling had taken part in the city reading carnival for several times, and she always worked as a volunteer. By 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon, it has raised a total of 53,865 yuan.
Zhong Yuling is a 2012 postgraduate student from the School of Sociology and Anthropology, Sun Yat-sen University. Now she is suffering from myasthenia gravis and lying in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). According to Miss Li, a club manager, she got acquaintance with Zhong Yuling in a city reading carnival in Guangzhou Book Market sponsored by Guangzhou Gumu Bookstore. On the evening of March 6, when Miss Li learned that SYSU students were calling for donations for Zhong Yuling on Weibo, she initiated the idea of organizing a charity sale to raise money for Yuling.
At dawn of March 7, the charity sale was acknowledged and supported by lots of people as soon as the poster was released. Guangzhou Museum of Art and UN Bookstore donated a number of books for the charity sale, and the 80’s Generation Troupe volunteered to give free live performance at the charity sale.
