At the evaluation meeting, student representatives of 19 academic societies including Ideal & Practice Union, Liberal Arts Reading Club, International Relations Society and Legal Youth introduced the development, features and achievements of their societies respectively. After the presentations, Associate Professor Liu Xiaoping commented on their activities on behalf of the judges. He affirmed the achievements of the University in student academic research and academic societies. In the meantime, he stressed that it is a visionary measure that the University encouraged students to participate in academic activities and to establish student academic societies; their activities should be associated with the development of the University and the reputation of the schools in order to enhance their influence, and should be combined with the students’ majors and interests to promote academic research and professional practice.

Qi Xiaoping, Director of the Student Affairs Office, said in the summary speech that the evaluation activity of demonstrative student academic societies is a specific measure to implement “dedication to teaching, students and learning”. Guided by professional teachers and based on academic disciplines, the student academic societies aim to promote students’ knowledge and talent cultivation. The purpose of the evaluation meeting is to build an extracurricular platform where students can learn and exchange ideas. In future development, the University will select mature student academic societies as demonstrative models to enhance their influence and benefit more students.

It is learned that the evaluation meeting for demonstrative student academic societies on Zhuhai Campus will be held next week and 9 student societies including Oral History Society will make presentations.
