Today, the most important award of the 2012 “Self-strengthening Star of Chinese University Students” activity is announced. 10 students including Zhang Dakui from Beijing Institute of Technology were awarded the title of “Model Self-strengthening Star of Chinese University Students”.

The 10 Model Self-strengthening Stars are: Zhang Dakui from Beijing Institute of Technology, Wu Xiaomei from Hefei University of Technology, Jing Yi from Yangtze Normal University, Guo Yanqiong from Sun Yat-sen University, Zhang Xiaomin from Northeast Normal University, Yang Jing from Taishan Medical University, Zhang Xuan from Nanjing Agricultural University, Wu Shuqiang from Xi’an University of Architecture & Technology, Ma Chengliang from Shanghai University, and Aikebaier Aierken from Xinjiang Normal University.

In this activity, the provincial CYL committees recommended 31 model candidates for the seven categories including Patriotic Dedication, Moral Promotion, Science and Technology Innovation, Independent Entrepreneurship, Volunteer & Public Welfare, Strong-willed despite Disabilities, and Others. Finally, 10 model self-strengthening stars are selected.

With slim shoulders, she undertakes the family burden; with confident smiles, she touches the people around. Taking care of her sick father, supporting the family and studying hard, all these tasks that are impossible to accomplish simultaneously for others, miraculously integrate into a whole for her.
