SYSU student wins first prize in 2013 Korean Speech Contest in south China

On May 25, the “2013 Korean Speech Contest” in south China sponsored by Korea Tourism Organization Guangzhou Office and University of Ulsan was held in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.

Tong Yunting from School of International Studies awarded first prize

Ten students from ten universities in south China participated in this contest. Tong Yunting from the Korean Department, School of International Studies, Sun Yat-sen University stood out from the fierce competition and won first prize with a speech entitled “Spirits Culture of China and South Korea”.

Targeted at freshmen and sophomores in colleges and universities, the contest has been held six times by far. Since its establishment in 2009, the Korean Department of School of International Studies has taken part in the contest three times and won first prize twice and second prize once.

The brilliant performance of the Samulnori (Korean Drums) team from Korean Department of School of International Studies during the contest was also warmly welcomed and well received by the audience.
