On July 5, led by Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng and Deputy Secretary Zhu Kongjun, the SYSU 2013 Summer Holiday Comprehensive Service Team went to Zhongtian Village, Lianzhou to “bring culture, technology and healthcare skills to the countryside”. The team offered free medical consultation, repaired household appliances, gave artistic performance and conducted social surveys.

Students are putting on a marvelous show.

During the social practice activity, doctors from The Sixth Affiliated Hospital and Hospital of Stomatology provided medical diagnosis and treatment, dental care and gave free medicine. The students repaired household appliances, winning high praise from the villagers. The artistic group presented a brilliant performance with elegant dances and touching songs. The students also conducted surveys in the forms of questionnaires and interviews in an effort to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Zhongtian Village’s basic situation and provide information and statistical support for the follow-up poverty relief work.

What is worth mentioning is that, this year is the first time for SYSU to launch the activity of “Social Practice of College Students’ Bringing Culture, Technology and Healthcare Skills to the Countryside” together with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in the summer holiday. Twelve students from Hong Kong joined the groups of medical service, household appliances repairing and social survey respectively. Moreover, “Enjoy Yourself Tonight”, the singing and dancing performance elaborately prepared by the Hong Kong students, was a great success.
