On July 25, the Ninth Cross-Strait College Students “Searching for Hakka Culture” Summer Camp came to a successful end. The 9-day summer camp was co-hosted by Department of History at Sun Yat-sen University, Department of History at National Chin Nan University in Taiwan, College of Hakka Studies at National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, College of Hakka Studies at National Central University in Taiwan, College of Hakka Studies at National United University in Taiwan, and organized by Department of History at Sun Yat-sen University and College of Historical Culture and Tourism at Sichuan Normal University.
The summer camp attracted nearly 70 participants, including Professor Wei-An Chang, Dean of College of Hakka Studies at National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan; Professor Feng-Jiin Liu, Dean of College of Hakka Studies at National United University in Taiwan; Professor A-Ron Liu, Dean of College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Yuan Ze University in Taiwan; Professor Chong-Chieh Wu from Graduate Institute of Hakka Culture Studies at National Kaohsiung Normal University in Taiwan; professors of related fields from Jinan University, Nanchang University, Sichuan Normal University and Sun Yat-sen University, as well as students and scholars.
The campers went to Huayang, Lodai, Dayi, Huanglongxi, Zizhong, Neijiang and Longchang in Sichuan Province and Rongchang in Chongqing, where Hakka people live. The visits enriched their knowledge and understanding about the Hakka people and Hakka culture in Sichuan and Chongqing.

The Cross-Strait College Students “Searching for Hakka Culture” Summer Camp is aimed at promoting Hakka studies and developing cooperation and exchange between cross-strait scholars and students. It has been successfully held nine times since 2004.
