The FLS and SIS Chapter of SYSU Shenzhen Alumni Association held a welcoming party for new members

On September 14, the School of Foreign Languages (FLS) and School of International Studies (SIS) Chapter of Sun Yat-sen University Shenzhen Alumni Association held a welcoming party for its newcomers. Featured with performances, games, keynote speeches and tea party, the event gathered more than 80 alumni ranging from the Class of 1960 to the newest graduates with the theme of “My 2013, My Shenzhen Dream”. The president of FLS and SIS Chapter Wang Zhongqing, vice presidents Yu Xianghui and Wu Lidan, and FLS Deputy Sectary Cao Xin attended the event. Special guests Chen Yushan, Wang Yan, and alumni representatives from other schools of SYSU were invited to the party.
President Wang Zhongqing extended his cordial welcome to the new alumni who graduated in 2012 and 2013, and introduced the history and tradition of the Chapter. He hoped that the alumni would realize their dreams in the open and dynamic city of Shenzhen.
Mr. Chen Yushan delivered a speech on “The Past and Future of Shenzhen Dream” with stories of Shenzhen and his own experience, to encourage new alumni to stay sincere, diligent and healthy. Mr. Tan Maorong (School of Physics & Engineering, Class of 1981) shared his experience of settling down in Shenzhen with all new friends.
The young alumni expressed their gratitude to the Alma Mater and the FLS and SIS Chapter. They got to know the alumni working in different fields, and this would help them integrate into Shenzhen more quickly.
The FLS Chapter of SYSU Shenzhen Alumni Association was established in 1994 and changed into the FLS and SIS Chapter in 2009 when the first batch of SIS graduates joined the Chapter. At present, the Chapter has over 400 members and regularly holds exchange activities and out-going trips, becoming a platform and home for FLS and SIS alumni in Shenzhen.
