The review result of entries in the 2013 National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest (NUEDC) was announced in October. SYSU teams, consisting mostly of students from School of Information Science and Technology, have won three national first prizes and two national second prizes, which is the best result ever since the University took part in the contest. The national organizing committee of NUEDC and China Education Society of Electronics (CESE) invited SYSU teams to attend an experience exchange meeting to be held in Wuhan on November 8-13 to give a report and present their entries.
NUEDC is hosted by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology every two years since 1994. It is the most authoritative and influential national contest among electronic design contests for Chinese undergraduates. In 2013, 240 teams won first prizes and 566 teams won second prizes out of 11,838 teams consisting 35,514 students from 1,044 colleges and universities nationwide.
This year, 13 SYSU teams consisting mainly of students from School of Information Science and Technology have won five national prizes; two first prizes, one second prize, three third prizes and two participating prizes in Guangdong province. The winning rate is 100%. This is the second time for SYSU to win national first prizes after winning two in 2007. Also, this is the best result achieved since the University started to send more teams to the contest in 2009.
