The Contest was divided into three rounds: preliminary, semifinal and final, and attracted more than 100 students from over 40 colleges and universities nationwide. Wen Guanghong was the only Years 3-4 contestant from Guangdong area who advanced to the semifinal, and one of the few contestants outside Beijing who made it to the final. He won the third prize after intense competition in the final.
It is learned that the first and second prize winners of this Contest are Uygur and Hui students from Beijing Foreign Studies University and Beijing Language and Culture University. As a student who comes from the Cantonese speaking area, Wen Guanghong’s success benefited from the cooperation and exchange programs with foreign universities and the ever-increasing level of foreign language teaching in the School of International Studies in recent years.
