On December 21, the 2013 Training Session for Student Editors and Journalists organized by the Publicity Department was held in He Danqing Hall on South Campus. Student editors and journalists as well as their instructors on South Campus and Correspondent Stations of News Center on North Campus, East Campus and Zhuhai Campus, attended the training session.

Mr. Duan Gongwei, Senior Journalist, Member of Editorial Board and Director of Political News Department of Nanfang Daily, was invited to deliver a speech entitled “Sticking to the Values of Media”. He encouraged student editors and journalists to remember their responsibilities, seek the value of news from the perspective of historians, and break the boundaries between disciplines.
Ms. Xu Jinyang, instructor at the editorial department of Sun Yat-sen University Gazette, gave a speech on “Writing Individualized In-depth Reports”. She explained in detail how to write an in-depth report from the five aspects of title, introduction, conclusion, literary perspective and readers’ perspective.
Mr. Zhou Weijian, former student editor at the Publicity Department, gave a speech on “News Photography: Selection, Composition and Post-production”. He cited examples to illustrate that a good news photo should have a clear theme, draw attention to the subject and be brief.
As members of SYSU, student editors and journalists recorded the history of the University and spread the spirit of the University.
