In response to CYL Central Committee’s call for students to “disconnect the internet, leave the dormitory, go to the playground”, in order to cultivate students’ enthusiasm for sports and improve their physical qualities, the School of International Studies (SIS) organized a one-month sports activities in March, 2014.

The theme of the sports month is “Do Sports, Be Happy!”, aiming at enriching students’ positive, happy and delightful mental experience by advocating outdoor sports. In order to encourage more students to participate in sports, SIS designed multilevel activities involving the school, class, dormitory and individual, including “Happy Running” at the school level, “Skipping Heavy Rope” and “Basketball Game” at the class level, “Shuttlecock Kicking” and "Skipping Rope" at the dormitory level, “Badminton Game” and "Shuttlecock Kicking" at the individual level, etc.

The content design of the sports activities is more colorful and adaptable to SIS’s international characteristic. The school organized interesting games such as “Darts Throwing” and “Gobang Challenge” for students who are not good at sports to experience outdoor fun. Meanwhile, the school introduced "Ultimate Frisbee" so that intentional students from Spain, Mexico, Germany, Portugal and the United States can play this international popular game together with Chinese students.

The one-month sports activities were well received by students for its optimized structure and innovative content. Nearly 1,400 students participated in eleven games at four levels.

It is learned that SIS has held the sports month activities for three years for the purpose of promoting students’ healthy and happy development.
