2014 SYSU Summer Holiday Comprehensive Service Team went to Lianzhou

On July 2-5, led by Vice President Yan Guangmei, the 2014 SYSU Summer Holiday Comprehensive Service Team went to Zhongtian Village and other villages in Lianzhou to “bring culture, technology and healthcare skills to the countryside”. The team members consisted of teachers and students from Hospital of Stomatology, The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, School of Physics and Engineering, and artistic groups at SYSU.

Dental check
 
Doctors from Hospital of Stomatology brought portable equipment and offered simple tooth-filling treatment. They also delivered toothpastes and taught the villagers the correct way of brushing the teeth.

 
Free diagnosis
 
Doctors from more than 10 departments in The First Affiliated Hospital including internal medicine, otorhinolaryngology, neurology, traditional Chinese medicine, obstetrics and gynecology gave free diagnosis and treatment for nearly 200 villagers a day.

 
Eye check-up
 
Doctors from Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center provided eye check-up and treatment for over 80 villagers.

 
Repairing household appliances
 
Students from School of Physics and Engineering repaired 350 household appliances for the villagers, including electric fans, electromagnetic ovens, electric cookers, electric kettles, washing machines and tumble dryers.

 
Artistic performance
 
SYSU artistic groups including the Student Dance Troup, Street Dance Group, Bayan Band and Student Chorus, presented wonderful performances for the villagers.
