The 10th Cross-Strait College Students “Searching for Hakka Culture” Summer Camp successfully held

The 10th Cross-Strait College Students “Searching for Hakka Culture” Summer Camp, organized by the Department of History at Sun Yat-sen University was held in Zhejiang on July 20-26. Nearly 60 teachers and students from 18 universities and research institutes in Taiwan and mainland China attended the event. The campers visited 7 cities and counties in Zhejiang province and held a seminar on searching for Hakka Culture.

On July 21, the opening ceremony of the summer camp was held in Lishui University, Lishui, Zhejiang province. Scholars across the Straits discussed the similarities between Hakka and She ethnic group in language and culture. From July 22 to 25, the campers visited Dongnong Village, an ancient village in Jingning She Autonomous County; Long Quan Sword and Celadon Museum in Longquan; Ancient Folk House in Shicang and Huang Compound in Songyang; Tang Xianzu Memorial Hall in Suichang Country; Quzhou Confucius Ancestral Temple, Quzhou Museum, and Ershibadu, an ancient village in Quzhou.

The Cross-Strait College Students “Searching for Hakka Culture” Summer Camp has been successfully held 10 times since 2004. The campers have visited places of Hakka Culture in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Sichuan and Zhejiang. It serves as a platform of academic and cultural exchange between cross-strait scholars and students.
