Semifinals of The 3rd China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition (Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) held on East Campus of SYSU

The Semifinals of The 3rd China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition (Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) and The 1st Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of University Students of Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, 2014 are being held on East Campus of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) from August 24 to August 28. Sixty-five teams/enterprises from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, over two hundred young entrepreneurs (including more than one hundred university students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) are competing to enter the final competition at the end of this year. Some excellent teams/enterprises will be recommended to enter the industry competition of The 3rd China Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition. Eight teams from SYSU participate in the Semifinals. Venture capital experts from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are invited as judges to evaluate and offer guidance. A series of events such as special training, experience sharing and investment negotiation are also organized.

The Semifinals are organized by Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of Ministry of Science and Technology, Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, CYL Guangdong Provincial Committee and People’s Government of Panyu District, Guangzhou. The targeted participants are university students and graduates (who graduated within 5 years) who will start up their businesses. Since its launch in May, the competition has received enthusiastic responses from young entrepreneurs in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. In Guangdong, many universities in Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center have actively recommended excellent teams to take part in the competition. In Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, renowned universities such as National Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Chinese University of Hong Kong and University of Macau, research institutes and social innovation organizations such as AAMA Taipei, Topology Research Institute and Straits Economics & Cultural Interchange Association, have actively taken part in the launch of the competition.

Till the deadline of application in mid July, over 160 teams/enterprises have applied, including 84 from Guangdong and 76 from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Through online evaluation, 75 teams/enterprises are qualified for the Semifinals, including 36 from Guangdong and 39 from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
