SYSU iGEM Team awarded as “Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team”

At the 9th China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award ceremony recently held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, SYSU iGEM Team was awarded as the “Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team”.
The China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award was set up in 2004 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Comrade Deng Xiaoping. This year the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, All-China Youth Federation, All-China Students Federation and National Working Committee of Chinese Young Pioneers selected 100 college student teams as “Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team”, with the aim to enhance the innovation abilities of college students and provide funding for them to conduct research. This is the highest award in national youth science and technology innovation.
Since its participation in the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM) in 2011, SYSU iGEM Team has entered the global final for three consecutive years. At the iGEM 2013 World Championship Jamboree, SYSU-Software team won Best Software Project, the grand prize in the software division, and a gold medal; SYSU-China team won Best Wiki and the 2nd Runner-Up in the Overgraduate division. On behalf of the University, SYSU iGEM Team participated in the national selection of “Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team” and won honor for the University for its scientific team organization as well as high academic level and influence.
