The 2014 SYSU New Students Welcome Party, hosted by SYSU Youth Association and Arts Education Center, was held on four campuses from September 18 to September 23. President Xu Ningsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng, Vice President Yan Guangmei, Deputy Secretary Li Ping, Vice President Li Shanmin, Vice President Yu Minbin, heads of schools and departments watched the performances together with the new students on four campuses respectively.
Students presenting Chinese calligraphy works at the Zhuhai Campus Welcome Party
On the evening of September 18, the Zhuhai Campus Welcome Party was held on the Sports Playground. President Xu Ningsheng, Vice President Yan Guangmei and Deputy Secretary Li Ping attended the event. The welcome party started with “Protect the Yellow River” and "Campus Eco” by SYSU Symphony Orchestra. SYSU Student Chorus presented two songs “The Song of Ali Mountain” and “High as Mountains and Long as Rivers” written by SYSU alumni. A poem written by a student was read, and Chinese calligraphy works were written by students on site for the 90th anniversary of SYSU.
Taekwondo Demo Team performing at the East Campus Welcome Party
On the evening of September 20, the East Campus Welcome Party was held in the Gymnasium. Vice President Li Shanmin attended the party. Topshow Street Dance Club performed “Can We Dance”. Student Dance Troupe and Taekwondo Demo Team brought wonderful performances. The Tibetan students at SYSU presented a Tibetan dance “Fragrant Yak Butter”.
The dance performance “Dream Is Not Dream” at the North Campus Welcome Party
On the evening of September 21, the welcome party on North Campus was held in the Alumni Grand Hall. Vice President Yu Minbin attended the event. The welcome party started with Chinese folk music “Yu Tune”. Songs by winners of Venus Singing Competition, folk dances "Brilliant and Colorful”, and the crosstalk “An Encyclopedic Mind” by North Campus Drama Club brought applause and laughter from the audience.
The dance performance “High as Mountains and Long as Rivers” at the South Campus Welcome Party
On the evening of September 23, the South Campus Welcome Party was held in K. K. Leung Hall. Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng attended the event. The new students were impressed by the wonderful performances such as “Farewell My Concubine” by Lingnan Peking Opera Club, the group dance “Galloping” and the Chinese songs by international students.
"Study Extensively, Enquire Accurately, Reflect Carefully, Discriminate Clearly, Practice Earnestly”. With the university motto in mind, the students enrolled in 2014 have started a new chapter in their college life.
