On May 6-11, 2015, the Wushu Taolu Competition of the 9th University Games of Guangdong Province was held in Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, attracting 23 teams in Group A and 13 teams in Group B. Eight students from Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) participated in Group A competition, winning one gold, one silver and three bronze medals, with the whole team ranked among the top three teams in Group A.

Liu Jingyu from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering won the first place in Women’s Optional Nanquan, earning the first gold medal in Group A competition. Chen Dingyi from School of Law won a silver medal in Women’s Optional Jianshu. Xu Yue from Zhongshan School of Medicine won a bronze medal in Women’s Optional Daoshu and Women’s Optional Gunshu respectively. Li Junda from School of Engineering won a bronze medal in Men’s Optional Qiangshu. SYSU Wushu Team, guided by three coaches, Long Guoqiang, Li Xiaobing and Li Pengsan, was ranked among the top three teams in Group A.
