SYSU teams win two gold prizes in the 1st “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students

On October 19-21, 2015, the final round of the 1st “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students was held in Jilin University. Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) was awarded the collective prize, and SYSU teams won two gold prizes.

In a written instruction on the 1st "Internet Plus" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students, Premier Li Keqiang pointed out that college students are a fresh and dynamic force in implementing the strategy of innovation-driven development as well as promoting mass entrepreneurship and innovation. He called on education departments and practitioners to do everything in their power to improve the creative abilities of students to ensure the supply of talent and intellectual support for the construction of an innovation-driven nation.

The competition, which was launched in May, attracted more than 200,000 students of 57, 253 teams from 1,878 colleges and universities with 36,508 entries. SYSU team “SYSU Puren Health Industry Management Co., Ltd.” won a gold prize in the creative ideas group. SYSU team “Jaxus—China’s best online education platform for life skills” won a gold prize in the practice group.

To prepare for the competition, SYSU Youth Association invited famous entrepreneurs and venture capitalists to provide a systematic training for the student teams. The training also received support from the Career Development Counseling Center and SYSU Vice President Yan Guangmei. In September, SYSU students won two golds, two silvers and one bronze in the provincial competition hosted by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province.
