SYSU signed framework partnership agreement with EDF

On the morning of June 7, a 3-member delegation led by Mr. Michel Maschi, Head of EDF R&D’s Global Operations, visited SYSU. Prof. Yan Guangmei, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests, accompanied by Mr. Jean-Marie Bourgeois-Demersay, French Dean of Sino-French Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology (SFINET); Ms. Yu Zhantao, Deputy Dean of SFINET; Associate Professor Zhang Chunyu, Assistant Dean of SFINET; and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange of SYSU.

Vice President Yan Guangmei extended a warm welcome to the EDF delegation and introduced SYSU, especially the school-running situation at SFINET. Mr. Michel Maschi gave a general introduction to EDF and pointed out that EDF took an active part in educational cooperation, attached great importance to international cooperation and exchange, and hoped to strengthen collaboration with SYSU in training professional talents. During the meeting, the two sides also discussed issues such as nuclear power and energy development.

After the meeting, Vice President Yan Guangmei signed a framework partnership agreement with EDF on behalf of SYSU. The two sides plan to have educational and research collaborations in the field of nuclear science and technology.

Established in 1946, Electricité de France (EDF) is one of the world’s leading electric utilities. Remaining at the forefront of energy technology including nuclear, hydro, wind and solar power, EDF can provide total solution such as electric power investment, project design, electricity management and distribution. EDF has a long term cooperation with China’s nuclear industry. In 2013, EDF signed a cooperation agreement with Guangdong Development and Reform Committee.
